History of the congress

•The Professor Alborzi Clinical Microbiology Congress was founded in 2007, at the initiative of Professor Abdulvahab Alborzi, with the aim of exchanging views between clinical specialists in the field of infectious diseases and basic science specialists in various fields of microbiology and immunology related to infectious diseases, and has been held annually since then.

•The fourth congress was held in 2010 in collaboration with Professor Alborzi's Clinical Microbiology Research Center with the aim of empowering other centers at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, and since then the congress has been held every other year in other cities.

•The fifth, seventh, ninth, eleventh and thirteenth congresses were held in Shiraz. The sixth congress was held in 2012 at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, the eighth congress in 2014 in Tabriz, the tenth congress in 2016 in Sanandaj, the twelfth congress in 2018 in Kerman and the fourteenth congress in 2020 in Mashhad. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 15th Congress was held virtually in 2021 at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. With the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022, the congress was not held, but the 16th congress in 2023 was held in person, after a one-year hiatus, with even greater grandeur than before, by Professor Alborzi's Clinical Microbiology Research Center in Shiraz. Mashhad University of Medical Sciences hosted the 17th congress in person in 2024 in Mashhad, and this year, the 18th Professor Alborzi International Congress of Clinical Microbiology will be held in Shiraz from 19  to 21 October, 2025.

•This congress was held internationally from the sixth session in 2012, inviting researchers from abroad, and this practice continues to this day.
